Winning School

Teacher Judith White and her class from

St Margarets C of E Primary School

are the winners of the

2015 International Sushi Day Competition.

Their entry not only incorporated work from all the children in the class but the use of lettuce leaves as plates was a very clever way of emphasising that sushi is healthy.

'The class weren't too keen on the idea when I told them they were making sushi as a lot of them thought it was raw fish. By the end of the lesson however I was amazed to find every single pupil ate the sushi and the majority were looking forward to trying it again.'

In fact, Judith's lesson proved to be so popular that she has also had to run a second class to teach the staff and parents!

Runner Up

We were so impressed with the standard of work produced by teacher Sharon McKee and her class at Down High School in Northern Ireland, that we simply had to acknowledge their efforts too.

The sushi lessons have proved to be so popular with the students that some of them have decided to go on to make sushi as part of their GCSE. After seeing these photos we are sure they will all do very well indeed!
