We've made it easy for you to make sushi in school.
Having worked with teachers from over 16,000 schools we know how important it is to make your lesson planning easy for you. We have developed activities for Primary and Secondary schools although we have found the resources can be made applicable to both.
This popular project can be used as a Themed Day or whole school event incorporating origami, exercise, board games, cultural understanding and of course healthy eating!
The sushi lesson is popular in Food Technology as a one and a half hour class incorportaing healthy eating and nutrition as well as basic food preparation skills. More and more pupils are also using the project as part of their GCSE practical exam too.
Cooking Sushi Rice
It is important to get this step right.
Without properly cooked sushi rice you will not be able to make sushi. The biggest mistake people make is to let the rice boil dry.
As soon as you notice the rice separate you must either remove from the heat if cooked or add extra water if not yet cooked properly.
Different brands of sushi rice may require different cooking guideline. Make sure you follow the directions on the rice packet or if you have purchased our kit you will find a comprehensive explanation to cooking the perfect sushi rice.

Rajio Taiso Workout
Rajio Taiso has been popular in Japan since 1928 when morning exercises were first broadcast on the radio for the nation to complete each day before work or school.
They were created as a means of keeping the Japanese healthy and well whilst creating a sense of community. Exercises are still carried out to this day before the work day begins.
Children in Japanese schools take part so why not introduce this for your class to try.
